booking a pet care service
STEP 1: REQUEST
When making a service booking request: kindly include as much information as possible to help streamline the booking process:
- Date(s)
- Service start & end times (this includes overnight services – if you have booked flights, please include that information)
STEP 2: CONFIRMATION
If the booking is confirmed, you will receive a “Booking Confirmation” email confirming the Pet Care Provider information, as well as the estimate cost for the service. If the service totals over $800.00, the deposit will be due upon booking and you will be provided an invoice.
If you have not worked with the specific Pet Care Provider in the past – a free Meet & Greet session will be arranged prior to the service date.
STEP 3: PET CARE PLAN
Confirm your personalized Pet Care Plan documentation and ensure your Client Service Agreement is signed (new clients).
For returning clients – if any changes to your pet’s care, your emergency contact, or home maintenance instructions these details should be sent prior to the next service start date.
STEP 4: YOUR PETS HAVE AN AMAZING TIME!
Your Pet Care Provider will complete the services, sending quick updates along the way.
STEP 5: SUMMARY AND PAYMENT
Once the service has been completed, you will receive a full Summary Report email from your Pet Care Provider!
QuickBooks invoice will also be sent via email from Arlo & Company with the balance due within 5 days of the service end date. More information regarding service fees and policies is available on THIS client web page.
service availability
Availability Calendar: the calendar on this page of the website was removed as of May 2023 with the onboarding of new Pet Care providers. Please continue to submit all booking requests to Emily!
Booking availability is released in 3 segments of the year:
- January to April (announced the September prior)
- May to August (announced the January prior)
- September to December (announced the May prior)
If you know of any travel dates that are beyond the posted website calendar, you are always welcome to email or text the details of your request, but the booking may not be guaranteed until full availability is settled.
pet care providers
Working with Pet Care Providers (Independent Contractors): If Emily is not available for your booking, it may be offered to an appropriate Pet Care Provider approved by Arlo & Company. Contractors will be fully insured, screened, and vetted, but cannot guarantee pet first aid training. Verified contractors will be listed on this web page!
Steps taken during the recruitment process:
- Multi-stage interview process
- Trial walk/visit with Arlo
- Reference calls
- Police records check
- Coordinating Independent Contractor Agreements to match your already signed Client Service Agreement – to ensure everyone is on the same page
- Providing resources and best practices information for how things are done here at Arlo & Company
- Preparing personalized Pet Care Plan documents for each client household (to be sent for client review prior to working with a contractor!)
Bookings with independent contractors work exactly the same as booking with Emily directly – all inquiries, invoices, and payments are processed through Emily and the main Arlo & Company accounts. Do not book or pay directly with an independent contractor as this invalidates the pet care provider’s insurance and your Client Service Agreement. Any tips/gratuity beyond the service fees are at the client’s discretion – and those may be given directly to the independent contractor if desired (if added to the invoice payment itself – 100% of that addition will go to your pet care provider).
Just as when you signed up to work with Emily – you will always be offered a free “Meet & Greet” session with the Pet Care Provider prior to confirming services. This is your chance to meet them, for the contractor to meet your pets, and ensure everyone is comfortable and on the same page.
Emily will also have prepared a comprehensive Pet Care Plan document for your household, which will be provided to the Pet Care Provider for review prior to the “Meet & Greet” and be available during all booked services. This documentation is prepared in consultation with each client, to ensure it is accurate to your pet’s needs, and can be updated at any time.
Unless under emergency circumstances, you will always get the final say on whether or not you want to work with a particular Pet Care Provider. You are under no obligation to book services with the new contractors, however, it will provide some additional flexibility to meet your service booking requests when Emily is not personally available.
